You may have heard the term RSS before but you are unsure what it is and how to use it. so, let's start with the basics:

What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and is a way to send/receive information for things like blogs, news and podcasts quickly and easily. An RSS file is just the raw information that is automatically updated whenever new content is distrubuted. As the consumer you need an "RSS Reader" and for our use case, that "reader" would be your podcast player.

Do I need the RSS feed to listen?

In a lot of cases the answer is - no. If you use a podcast service like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Podcast Addict among others, you can usually subscribe or follow the podcast directly through those apps. Simply use their search feature and look for "Primitive Intelligence Podcast" and then you can listen and subscribe from there. But, what if...

Your show isn't listen in my podcast player.

This is where RSS comes in handy.

  • Copy our RSS feed URL:  https://anchor.fm/s/444f3d34/podcast/rss

  • Next, verify that your podcast player supports directly adding a show with RSS (not all of them do).

  • If RSS is supported, locate the option to "Add Show", "Add Podcast" , "Add Feed" or some variation of that.

  • Paste our RSS feed into the address field

  • Some apps may ask for verification that you want to subscribe or follow.

  • There are no authentication keys or passowords required for our feed.

You should now see the Primitive Intelligence Podcast appear in your list of shows. The feed will automatically update whenever we post a new update. Depending on your notifcation preferences you may see whenever new episodes are released.

Some apps method of adding RSS feeds may vary slightly but this is a pretty good estimation of what the process will be like for you.
