You are listening to the
Primitive Intelligence podcast
episode 508 Decrypted's of
Pennsylvania.
That sounds like a good title,
just came up.
That's a very good title.
So this week we have absolutely
nothing prepared, which is very
familiar to what we used to do,
but not for lack of planning.
You weren't even going to come
on this week because you were
just going to research and then
we were going to go hiking today
and the weather has just been
crazy.
So we're like, hey, let's just
record.
So I pulled up some crypted,
Pennsylvania crypted stories and
we just kind of BS for the rest
of it.
It's a good time.
And there's a good personal
story in there, too.
There's a couple of interesting
things.
Yeah, things.
Stories from both of us,
actually.
So it's a good time.
And as you can tell, Rocco is
here again.
I'm back.
He's back.
Good times.
It's interesting you're wearing
it like a much nicer shirt this
time.
When you wear last week, you
only wear one shirt.
That's one of the last week is
one of the rare times I've ever
seen you in one shirt.
I had two on.
Did you?
Yeah, I always wear a tshirt.
Fashion tips with Rocco on how
to wear a shirt.
I thought you were only wearing
a tshirt last week.
Maybe I had to go.
But I thought, I thought I did.
I don't know.
It's just a shirt.
That's just a shirt.
Rocco tshirts.
But Speaking of shirts, see
that.
That's a nice shirt.
Yeah, the primitive intelligence
T-shirt.
Yeah, that's the new logo.
You know, we have a logo.
Do you even know we have a logo?
I could see it.
It's on your shirt.
Yeah, I know you can see it now.
It's been a while since you've
been involved with everything,
so.
No, I I've been listening from
the sidelines.
Yeah.
So originally, like if you're
wondering what the the
significance of the monkey head
on the logo is, originally when
we first started you had that.
I don't know if you can still
have it.
That incense burner, that's just
like a monkey sitting there
holding the it's like a candle
or an incense.
I believe it or not, in the
office here, I do have it.
It'll make an appearance next
time.
Oh, nice.
So yeah, I took a picture of
that and then just kind of used
photo editing to get like a
silhouette of it and it was just
like the little monkey.
And then, I don't know, sometime
in the second season I changed
it to the more simplified, like
3 circles monkey head.
And I kept that for a while.
And then this year I was like,
you know, I'm gonna do something
a little bit little bit
different.
So came up with the new logo.
Well, I didn't come up with it.
I actually used fiber to get it
made.
So, well, I got so much stuff
going on, I didn't have time to
sit there and design a whole new
logo.
So I was like, you know what?
For 5 bucks, here go it.
Looks good.
Logo.
Yeah, yeah.
So it works.
I did that for hike files too.
I just used Fiber.
They got like an automated
system that has all the stuff on
there in it.
Apparently once they use this
logo it takes it out of their
their rotation.
So hopefully there's somebody
else gonna have our logo, but
I've modified it slightly so
looks.
Good.
I like it.
Yeah, it's just something
different.
Looks.
I actually was wearing this last
week and I walked into UPS to
drop off some stuff and the
guy's like, looking at it,
reading it.
So maybe he's listening now.
Wouldn't mind a magnet of that
on the fridge.
I could have magnet sticker.
There is a merch link in the
website and I'll see if I can
get some magnets made.
Shouldn't be too hard.
That'd be cool.
Yeah, magnets and shirts.
But we're going to get into the
episode.
We're going to talk about three
different forms of human ape,
like cryptids in Pennsylvania.
And then we're going to talk
about some interesting stories.
The Primitive Intelligence
Podcast starts. so I know this
last week that the the your
audio sounded really good, but
mine was kind of warbly in a lot
of places that could not
correct.
So I'm going to try something
different this week to see if
maybe the audio sounds a little
bit better.
But the service I'm using here
keeps on giving me popups.
OK, fine, go away.
OK, we're good.
So we both have other things
that we're working on.
I know you've got something that
you're researching and I just
had something fall on my lap
right as we're talking on the
phone before I did this.
And actually that's what I was
reading when you logged in
reading that book.
But neither one of those are
ready.
So we figured we'd go a little
bit old school and not really
have a topic, but kind of have a
topic.
So you had mentioned looking at
local cryptids and local
oddities.
Yeah, yeah, we have a few in
Pennsylvania.
That oddities is a good word.
Everyone has their own cryptids
or weird stuff, but I always
wanted to see what PA had.
There's actually a lot.
I'm going to touch on three of
them because they're kind of
related and I've got an
interesting point of view about
them at the end too.
So I don't know if you remember
this.
A few years ago I sent you that
that link to the the Google
Drive that's got some pictures
in it.
Oh, yes, yeah, I'm in there now.
OK.
If you look at the one that
says, I think it's just this
devil monkey sign.
Do you remember this from a few
years ago when I sent you this
picture?
I think it was in 2020.
Oh, I do remember that.
Yeah.
Yeah, You were on the hike
somewhere.
Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
So we went out to Western, PA,
out to the Kinzua Bridge State
Park and it, which is an old
railroad trestle that they were
rebuilding for the park.
So it was going to go across it.
It was like the highest railroad
trestle in the world for a
while.
And it went across this ravine.
And while they were working on
it in in the 2000s, they were
restoring it, some weather moved
in.
So they pulled everybody off of
this trestle and they're like I
will we'll wait for the storm to
pass because it's all wood and
metal.
So you don't want to be honest
thing if lightning strike, you
know, so they pull everybody off
in a freaking tornado rips
through the ravine and knocks
down most of this trestle.
So they were actually able to
save a part of it and they
turned into what they call the
skywalk.
So you walk out, you can look
out over the ruins of the rest
of the trestle, and they've got
like a glass floor in the end.
It's really, it's really cool
and there's some hiking trails
and stuff like that.
But as I was there, we're
looking at one of the kiosks and
there's this big wooden
footprint in the bottom of the
kiosk, and I'll put the picture
up in the show notes and it just
says Devil Monkey #23.
I think it says right, yes, 23,
#23, #23 and I'm like, what is
the devil?
I've never heard of the devil
monkey before.
So I think it was after the
hike.
We're on our way back and I kind
of looked it up because I wasn't
driving.
And it turns out there's some
information about the devil
monkey, right?
So the devil monkey is a three
to four foot tall shaggy dog
face creature that sometimes
reported to have kangaroo like
legs.
I don't mind me, I've got my
notes on my phone today, so
report of kangaroo like legs and
I have heard reports of people
saying that they've seen
Kangaroos in the US.
Have you heard this?
No, I didn't hear any of that.
It's it's usually not very
common, but I have heard of it,
of people saying they've seen
these Kangaroos in the US The
first reports that I could find
were in 1934 in South
Pittsburgh, Tennessee, which is
just outside of Chattanooga.
There was reports in 1959 in
Southern Virginia.
Now these ones were the early
ones were like like attacks on
vehicles or just seeing it run
like across the field. 1969 in
British Columbia, all the way up
in Canada.
It left three toed prints, and
that's very common with stuff
like this 3 toed.
Friends, it makes me wonder like
because you know people, people
will probably default to other
must have been the escape from a
zoo or a circus or.
But if you're talking about
something like the devil monkey,
that doesn't sound like a
kangaroo.
Might have kangaroo legs, but
well, kangaroo legs are pretty
specific though.
That's true.
People say sink in like well I
mean monkeys they can jump
pretty far like the the Reese's
macaques that they tried to have
down in Florida and like that
zoo and they they kind of put
them on an island thinking they
would be fine there and they
just kind of swam away and or
jumped off the island like they
they're really they can jump
pretty far.
They can jump like 35 feet and
those are small.
Imagine something that size 3 to
4 feet with kangaroo like legs
that's as agile as a monkey.
Well the one from PA with a dog
faced head though I guess if
it's a shaggy looking kangaroo
that the kangaroo head might
look like might look doglike.
Like, you know, I guess if it's
covered in there, I wonder.
So I mean mostly Kangaroos are
in warmer climates of Australia,
right?
I don't know if there's really
they get them in the South where
it would be colder.
Would they be like deer?
Where in the winter deer get
like a shaggier coat?
Could they actually be monkey or
Kangaroos?
I I, I I guess the question that
that I default to is 10 like
10,000 years ago we had woolly
mammoths and what was it, Woolly
rhinos and giraffes I believe
in, in the US, in the, in the
North America.
So I wonder if we had anything
like a kangaroo?
Or wooly kangaroo?
Is it something that maybe this
is just a leftover and no one's
ever no, nobody has seen it?
It's possible now.
In 1973, three of them were
spotted in Kentucky and they
slaughtered cows.
Because they were looking oh oh
the the Kangaroos slaughtered
cows or the devil monkeys, or.
Whatever they were.
Yeah.
Slaughtered cows.
That's that's a big hit.
No.
I've seen pictures of Kangaroos
and that there's a couple breeds
them but the the one breed they
just they they can't, they
can't.
What is the the protein in the
body that builds muscle.
They can't control it.
So as they get older, just get
more and more jacked.
And they can't even, right.
Yeah, they can't even.
A big animal.
The cows are really for people
who have never actually been
next to one in person.
They're big.
Oh yeah, they're huge.
So that would surprise me if if
we're, if we're talking about
those statistics where it's like
3 to 4 foot high, they were in
packs.
You know, it's possible that
they do draw parallels to the
Devil Monkey in the Chupacabra
because of the way it looks like
the dog face head and you know
that.
But that was 2, that was 73 in
79 there was.
Now this is what makes me think
it might be some kind of
kangaroo, described as an ugly
creature with a beaverlike tail
that was very shaggy in a
doglike face.
Now if you put a shaggy tail on
a kangaroo because they got a
very like stubby as a really
thick tail, it's not like long
like a monkey.
But a beaverlike tail, though?
That's pretty specific.
A shaggy Beaver tail?
I don't know.
Beaver tail is a poke pie
because porcupines are just land
Beavers.
That's all they are with quills.
Porcupines are land Beavers.
They're related to the Beavers.
They're they're like distant
cousins, porcupines and Beavers.
I'm curious if mind mind me
going to my my phone for a
second?
I'm curious if the US ever had
any version of like a marsupial
or a kangaroo possums.
The possums are right now the
only marsupial in the in North
America as far as I know.
Now in 2006 there was a
sighting.
This one's really weird.
The family comes home to find
this monkey, wolf, devil like
creature in their home attacking
their dog.
Oh my God, now the guy says he
got a picture of it as it was
running out, but they don't.
I I haven't been able to find
this picture.
The other thing I can't find is
when I was at Kinzua and I saw
that Devil Monkey foot, there
was a QR code to scan so you
could pull up information on the
Devil Monkey Nowhere, nowhere
can I find the DC&R has any
information about the Devil
Monkey anymore.
I I went to the DC&RI, went to
the like the PA Wilds web page,
right.
Nothing.
They it's just gone now.
So it's like all those stories
about the Pennsylvania sightings
I I can't find because I
remember them talking about
sightings by in Lake Clarion and
out by Ohio and in Ohio, but I
can't find any of those
anywhere.
So what do you think about the
Devil Monkey?
Well, before we the Devil Monkey
really sounds interesting
because if you don't have a
clear sighting, it makes you
wonder what exactly are you
seeing.
I did.
I did a quick search.
And on on Atlas Obscure website
Does America have a secret
kangaroo population?
But I'm not going to read that.
But it's interesting if it's a
shaggy kangaroo.
Oh yeah, like I said with deer,
and I don't know how.
I mean, deer aren't related to
Kangaroos in any way, they're
marsupials and mammals, so
they're completely different.
But if you've ever seen a deer
in the Northeast in the summer,
they're very smooth looking and
brown and very neat and well
kept looking.
As soon as the fall hits, they
get like shaggy and gnarly and
they all Gray and they look
very, very different.
Looks like a completely
different animal, almost.
I'd like to hear more about them
though.
I wish we had sightings.
I wish we had like, you know, a
blurry picture that somebody
takes from in their backyard and
they say, hey, look at yeah,
there's there's not a lot about
the Devil Monkey.
But did lead me to something
else that is much, much closer
to us.
The Pocono Wild man.
Have you heard of the Pocono
wild man?
No, I've never heard of this.
So this is only one story, one
sighting.
Let's see, 1972 sisters
borrowing a friend's car were
driving near Blakeslee, PA,
which is not far from the The
ghost restaurant came around the
corner to see a large figure
walking through a field along
the tree line.
It had a large Flathead, small,
almost nonexistent.
Nose was basically just like 2
slits, protruding ears and
covered in a shaggy white hair
that was longer on the head and
face than it was in the body.
It was kind of patchy.
The skin was pinkish and like
modeled brown, but she couldn't
tell if it was the pigmentation
or if it was dirty.
They they watched it for a
couple minutes or a few seconds
as it like they slowed down or
watched this thing and it turned
and looked at him, had these
like really like dark black eyes
and as soon as it made eye
contact with them they freaked
out.
Was just instant terror.
They could not control
themselves so they speed off.
I I think they broke down.
The car stopped running like a 2
miles down the road and they
were freaking.
Out.
Oh yeah.
Somebody came by and and helped
them get the car started.
It was like their friend's
Porsche or something like that,
and they couldn't get it
running.
But the the woman who relayed
the story, she kept the story
quiet for 45 years.
She just relayed the story in
2015.
Now, and forgive me, but does it
say when it was in 1970?
It does it say what month it
might have.
I was just curious because if it
had like a whitish hair.
I almost want to know if it if
it had like winter fur.
That's the only reason I ask.
I I believe it was in the
summer.
I think they were up here on
summer vacation and they do in
the story.
I do remember talking about they
were driving down the road with
the windows down and the music
playing so that you wouldn't
necessarily be doing that in the
Porsche in the in the winter.
Just saying, especially back in
the 70s.
There are a lot of wild man
stories all over the world.
Of 1 version or another.
And that's the first I ever
heard of anything here.
Well, is it?
I told you about the I don't
know if it was a wild man but
the encounter had my driveway.
I.
Don't remember that.
Let's see.
It had to be mid 90s I'm
guessing.
Yeah, mid early, mid 90s,
something like that.
I was outside, I had my
telescope out.
It was a nice clear night.
No moon.
This was out in the front yard
with my telescope out and I had
all the lights off like in the
house.
My parents are asleep.
I had all the lights like the
outdoor lights.
We had flood lights and stuff
like that.
And I noticed my neighbors were
up who lived in the house I grew
up in.
So we had sold that house and
moved across the street.
So I went over to go hang out
and we're sitting on our deck.
We're all BS ING and I had no
those red Everready flashlights
with the white button on them.
I had one of those, and I mean,
like you do with those things, I
was like fidgeting with it and
like taking the part and closing
it, whatever.
So I don't know, maybe 11,
o'clock, 12:00 at night.
They decided to go in.
I walked back over the house and
they turned off their lights as
I was going across the street.
But I I grew up here.
I'd lived here my whole life.
So it wasn't like it wasn't.
Where you were going, you
weren't scared?
Yeah.
And we have like a, it was like
100 yard driveway or not 100
yard, 100 foot driveway from the
road up to the house.
So I'm walking in and I'm like,
well, I can let my eyes adjust
and go back to telescope and
just, you know, go back to do
what I was doing.
I get about 25 feet into the
driveway and it was gravel.
And I hear, I can't really see
because my eyes haven't adjusted
yet.
And I hear someone spin around
in a gravel in front of me, You
know, it sounded like feet, like
pivoting.
And I can't see who it is.
I can just hear someone
breathing.
I see her and I'm like, hello,
hello, And now everybody I know
that might be near where I'm
standing is either asleep in my
house, my parents, or in my
neighbor's house.
And they were all behind me.
So it's not like someone ran
around because there was no way
to do that and I would hurt him.
And I'm like, hello, hello And
I'm, I'm probably swearing at
whoever it is and all of a
sudden it's awesome.
Like I got my flashlight in my
hands.
So I picked the flashlight and I
hit the button and the light
doesn't work because I've been
messing with it all night and
I'm like shit.
And whoever it was just turned
to my left, their right, and
ran.
Now you've seen where I grew up,
those woods approaching the
house, coming up the hill were
really thick.
They they've kind of put like a
trail there now between the two
houses because one person bought
all those properties, but that
was all thick woods and there
was like.
Dirt they had dug up from the
house that they had dumped down
there and there was old farm
equipment down there, so you
couldn't just like run through.
It's hard to get through there
during the day.
And this person just ran through
the woods and I just heard the
footsteps like slump, slump it,
but running.
So, I mean, these are huge
strides this person take and
just running straight through
the woods and I never saw it.
I didn't smell any funny,
anything funny.
So all I know is there was
someone who appeared to be quite
large judging by the where the
breath was coming from and but I
couldn't see him and they took
off in the woods and.
I what the all the lights.
I'm like, what's going on?
I remember this story now, but I
never really thought about it as
like a wild man story, I guess.
I I guess I always thought of
that as either, you know, a
creeper.
Like somebody, somebody.
And I don't mean like a weirdo,
I just mean somebody where they
shouldn't have been or a ghost.
I don't know why I always
thought of that.
Ghost never dawned on me would
there was my neighbor's daughter
used to say that she thought
she'd see someone going in and
out of that barn like they were
living in there and we could
never find any evidence of it.
But it is possible that someone
was living in a barn and it
that's I just kind of caught
them.
They thought all the lights are
out and they were, they were
safe and also and I just came
popping out of nowhere.
And I would also say that and I
I'm not, I'm not really rural,
but we used to get a lot of
people walking from place to
place.
We're talking and you know, a
different time.
So I always think that it could
have been somebody cutting
through somewhere.
I guess I never really thought
of it as a possible encrypted.
Yeah, I mean, as far as someone
passing through, I mean the road
is right there.
You just walk down the road.
You wouldn't walk across
someone.
There's nowhere to go.
Where you going to go?
There's nowhere out there.
And if you're going to walk back
to the pond to go fishing,
you're just going to walk back
the road you're not going to.
There's like a grass Rd. to went
back.
That's the one thing that makes
me interested.
It piques my curiosity because
for anyone who is familiar with
Woods.
Or if they've even, like, maybe
added the property bordering it
or something.
Or they've seen it, It's not
easy.
There are no trails that go
right through woods.
People don't always understand
that.
Some people think you could just
easily walk through a forest or
woods, and that's not always the
case.
If it's in the dark, you can't.
Unless you have a trail, you're
not going to really move that
fast.
Yeah, even hiking in the dark
when you got a headlamp on in in
moonlight, it's not easy to stay
on the trail.
Sometimes the woods are
different when it's dark.
I I will have to say on this off
the Cuff episode, on this very
special off the Cuff episode you
did, you did happen to mention
something that would be
interesting.
Maybe we don't have to do it in
this episode or not, but you had
mentioned the ghost restaurant
and and that would be
interesting in itself.
Well, it's a pretty quick story.
It is a pretty quick story and
it happened not far from the
Wild Man incident, so before I
go on to my next one, we could
talk about that.
Yeah, let's go over that,
because that one's interesting
because that was there.
So it was it was weird.
We were at We were kayaking
right at Francis Locus.
Francis E Walter Dam Yeah, yeah.
And we got done and we decided,
let's go get some lunch.
Yeah, we like to try to find
local places to eat.
We don't want to go to like
McDonald's or anything.
We go to get somewhere,
something good.
So was it 115?
Is that the road we were on?
I I'm not good with the numbers.
I believe you, though I'd say I
default to your memory.
I think 115.
There's only 40, yeah.
There's only a couple main roads
over there, so and we went out,
we drove like One Direction for
a while and then we turned
around like not real far because
we're heading towards like a
more populated area.
Like I we're not going to do
that.
So we turned back and headed
back the other direction and
passed the place.
But we weren't sure if it was
open.
So I think we went past it and
it turned around and came back
and pulled in and it looked open
and it was like this old
farmhouse style building with I
remember seeing the chimney.
I remember it had like a porch
on the front.
I agree.
There was a porch, maybe a car
or two in the front and then
there was like a driveway that
went around the back, like it
was pretty open, went around the
back.
So we walk in and there's nobody
in there.
It's just like the waitress and
us.
It's old, old 60s or 70s style
like and it had been hold at
that point.
I would say the way I would
describe it is if if you've ever
been somewhere where they took a
house.
At one point and they made a
restaurant or a store it it was
when you say old, like old
wooden floors.
The walls were old.
It wasn't like it.
It didn't look like it was
falling apart.
It was just, it didn't get it
hadn't been updated and decades,
I don't remember being like a
wagon wheel hanging from the
wall that you would expect that
you know, right.
And so we walk in and we get
seated and we're we're sat at
like the end booth and it was
like a table booth.
It wasn't really the the booth
booth, but there's like a room
for four people and we're like
up against the wall.
And you had sat with your back
against the wall and I was
facing you directly across the
table and behind you there was a
door that was completely blocked
by the dining stuff.
And we were there.
We, I think we ordered our our
drinks and maybe we ordered our
food and we're waiting for her
to come back and we're just
sitting there biessing and all
of a sudden I see the door push
open, hit your chair and you
move.
Like, Oh yeah, I moved out and
it was, it was enough that like
it wasn't just a little hit.
It was like somebody thought it
was an entrance and they were
trying to come in.
Like I got whacked.
Like I actually like kind of,
you know, you did the whole
thing where you kind of look.
Behind you, almost expecting
somebody to be telling you to
move or get out of the way or
something.
Yeah, but it didn't open far.
But it hit me and it's strong
enough where it was a it was a
hit.
It was it was a push.
Yeah, like you were only like
far enough that you could.
If the chair was pushed in, you
could still couldn't open that
door all the.
Way, right, Right.
And we're just like, like, holy
crap, like, so we're waiting for
somebody to come in the other
door, and you never came in.
So the waitress comes over and
she's either bringing us her
food or whatever.
And we're kind of laughing about
it.
And we say, you might want to
tell her to try to come in that
door that that's not an entrance
anymore.
And the look on her face is just
like, like, yeah, just kind of
goes like, no expression for a
second.
And she's like that door.
And we're like, yeah, like the
door just opened up and whacked
him right in the back.
And she's like, not that door.
Nope.
And we're like, yeah, I'm like,
I saw it.
I saw you get moved.
You obviously, like, felt it.
She's like that door is walled
off on the other side.
That door hasn't been through
door in 20 years or whatever.
She said.
Like it goes upstairs to the
apartment upstairs and was like
somebody opened that freaking
door.
Yeah, it was.
It was enough of a whack, but it
was it, it it.
And I don't know how to describe
this.
And so, like, my house is very
old.
It's got to be over 100 years
old.
Same thing.
Wood floors, you could hear
people moving.
Like if Someone Like You could
throughout the house, the
stairs, you could hear the wood
moan and Creek.
You know, it doesn't matter the
size of the person you know and
you know where people are in the
house just by the different
noises it makes.
And I would expect the same
thing in this place.
But you didn't hear anything.
There was nothing approaching.
The door and nothing left the
door.
It was just the door moved and
stopped and there was nothing
else.
There was no other sound.
No one said, oh sorry, yeah,
there's no, like, mumbling
behind the door like, oh crap,
we just hit the door.
Nothing.
That's not even the weirdest
part, though.
No, no, That's the fun.
That's the fun part.
Because I was like, oh, I was
like, oh, so I got kicked in the
ass by a ghost, you know,
basically.
It's like because, like, you
know, because we laugh about
these things.
And I was like, oh, all right,
well, what other you know, that
was a fun story and and so be
it.
And we laughed about it.
And I don't know, was it one
year, couple years went by after
that.
A year maybe, Yeah, at least a
year.
And we're back out there
kayaking and we're hungry.
And we're like, let's go to the
ghost restaurant, right?
Let's go.
And so we drive out there, right
down the road.
Where the hell is this?
This.
Is no lie.
This sounds this sounds weird,
but it's not.
It's there's If this is this is
a country Rd. there's nothing
around.
It's not like you're passing
about buildings and houses and
everything.
There's nothing there's it's
very, very sparsely populated,
if you will.
You're not seeing a lot of stuff
out there.
Yeah.
So we we drive and we we pass
the spot and we're like that's
not it and we we keep going turn
around come back drive past
again like that can't be it.
If we come back we pull in the
parking lot and this place has
got like a tree growing through
the porch.
It is run down it, it didn't
just close a year ago.
This place has been closed for
30 years.
It's been closed for A.
Day and and like of course I'm
like I'm like there's no way
this is the same place.
Find you.
You could laugh at me because
I'm, I was thinking, oh, this is
the, this is the story where I
got hit, get kicked in the ass
by a ghost and I'm laughing
about that.
And then I'm like, oh, there's a
ghost restaurant.
It's like that's not believable
to me.
I'm like, there's no way.
Because I remember like I would.
I would, I would have remembered
like a 20 foot or 30 foot tree
growing through the front porch.
I think I would have remembered
right in front of the door.
Right in front of the building.
It's like I would have
remembered that.
But that's the only place on
that road where this could this,
this restaurant, if you will,
could have been.
There was no, there was no we.
We took that road all the way
down to the end where it merged
and we came all the way back.
There was nothing else on that
road, nothing else And that
play, it looked exactly like it.
It just was run down and
dilapidated for like 30 years.
So what the hell happened?
Like, did we walk into a time
slip?
Like, did we eat?
Did we even eat anything?
Was that like, do we have like a
ghost meal?
I don't remember if I was hungry
immediately thereafter like, it
was it was so bizarre.
And then we start thinking about
like, yeah, that waitress is
wearing like older style
clothes.
Yeah, because then it's fun to
think about you, fun to laugh
about.
It's like, yeah, it was a really
old looking place, like
everything we have to pay in
cash.
I think we always paid in cash
that back then a few years back
I think.
So I don't remember if there
were TVs or anything.
You know, now that you mentioned
it, I don't think there were.
I remember there was like a bar,
but it was like an old school
kind of looking long, like
almost if you'd see in like a
Western, like a, you know, just
just a regular bar where you
could sit at the bar and they
were like sparsely.
Tables like it wasn't like a
filled place with, you know,
table glots or people.
There's no way in it.
So it's just, it was just really
funny because I to this day I'm
still like I had to be a
different, a different place.
Like, I did get kicked by a
ghost, but we've never been able
to find that place, you know?
And there's only two roads.
There's right, There's only two
roads, and, and I really think I
would have recognized.
If the place was open and had
like a 20 foot tree or whatever,
because it was clearly going
straight through, yeah, the
roof, I think I would have
remembered that.
Yeah, that would have been neat
ambiance to the building to have
a tree growing through it.
Well, it was only the still like
it's something to be looked
inside it would like.
I was afraid to look inside
because we might have looked
inside and seen our skeletons at
the table.
It was.
It was, yeah.
It was something.
Maybe we'll have to try it.
We'll drive back.
Maybe it'll maybe it won't even
be there now.
It'll be nothing.
We'll go into the future the
Jetsons restaurant.
Yeah that was so that was that
was really bizarre but that's
yeah that's not far that's
Blakesley that's over by
Blakesley.
Over where the the What do you
call him?
The Pocono wild man.
Yeah, maybe he got kicked by the
Pocono Wild man.
Maybe he was trying to come in.
He was mad.
So with those two, you can't
talk about Devil Monkey in the
Poking a Wild Man without
talking about Bigfoot.
The big guy, the big guy.
And I'm, I'm thinking like, is
there even Bigfoot in
Pennsylvania?
So there's a link there for the
map.
Yeah, I saw the map.
Did you see how many pins are on
that thing?
It's just all pins.
I went down.
I kind of went down a rabbit
hole a few years back where
there was something about being
there was, there was, there was
a talk about a sighting or
something.
And and I'm like, well, we, I've
lived here my whole life.
I mean, I think I would have
heard about Bigfoot sightings in
Pennsylvania.
And now if you take a look at
that map, there's there's a lot
more than just a few sightings.
There's there's a lot of other
few sightings.
Yeah, so I looked at a few.
I just zoomed into our area and
I'm like, let me see what we got
right around us.
The first time I pull up. 2006
in Jessup, which is right next
door to me, woman hiking saw a
white haired 7 foot creature
running fast down a hill.
White hair on its head was
longer than its body.
Wild man.
That's the first one I saw.
I was like, well, that's
interesting. 2008 in Scranton.
A woman in her unstarted car saw
a giant hairy beast, about 8
feet tall, with lanky arms,
grizzly mouth.
It looked at her through the
windshield before running off
into the woods.
Does it say we're in Scranton?
It does not.
There are coordinates on there,
but I think it's like where the
pin is placed.
It probably isn't exactly right
on it, so the full 215.
Yeah, there's a lot of there's a
lot of green around Scranton.
They so there are bears that
have been walking through
Scranton.
So yeah, we're close.
We're close to nature.
We're close to nature now. 2015
a police officer.
I have the whole thing pulled
off here.
I'm not going to read word for
word what it says, but police
officer was going towards Mcdade
Park late at night, Just
checking park, make sure
everything was okay.
Notice a very dark object
leaning over the edge of the
road near the pool as I drove
past past extremely close by and
notice a large hairy section of
well muscled leg and a big hairy
wrist.
And as the creature turned I
screamed and grabbed for my cell
to snap a pic and my gun.
All you all you could say was
that if it was a monkey it was
huge or is a Bigfoot.
I'm not going public with this
because it'll cost me my job.
So I was in 2015, and I think
I've.
Heard that story before?
No, I think I've heard that
before.
Somebody mentioning that about
seeing something by Mcdade Park.
There, the, well, whatever I
heard, and I can't say if it was
in the Northeast, but it was in
the last few years.
And that's what made me look,
because I never thought about
Bigfoot in Pennsylvania, at
least not here.
Like, you know, I could say out
in like the Allegheny Forest or
something, like maybe there's
maybe there's, you know,
sightings of something.
But I yeah, that's when I kind
of stumbled upon in the last few
years.
But but like we're we're out in
these woods and you don't.
I wouldn't.
I don't know.
I guess.
I guess it's the same old story
as we know there's black bears
around, but you don't always see
them.
Yeah, well, that one picture I
sent you, bear man versus bear,
and it's just footprints.
Like like bear tracks next to a
a man's boot prints.
And they are really big.
That's like the hind feet of a
bear.
Now we've seen them out in the
winter, the the tracks.
And so as soon as I saw that
picture, I was like, oh, that's
that's clearly a bear.
I hope they're not trying to
pass this off as a Bigfoot.
But then the caption is like,
it's definitely a black bear.
But I did.
I told you about the guy who
approached me when I was doing
cable, told me about what he saw
behind Toys-R-Us, right.
You did?
Yeah, I remember that story.
Yeah.
So he it was really weird like I
was doing cables at the back of
my truck and this guy approaches
me like mid conversation.
He's just instantly talking to
me like we've been talking for
20 minutes and he tells me about
from where I was was over by E
Mountain and you can kind of see
across the valley over towards
like the Viewmont area.
Was it Bell Mountain over there?
Is that what that's called like?
I believe it is Bell Mountain,
yeah.
And he said he, he, him and his
friend were out.
They were.
He goes, look, we were, we were
getting high.
He goes, so, you know, take this
for what it's worth.
He's like, but we looked across
the mountain, across the valley,
and we could see this light that
came down.
And he kind of described it like
how a kid would draw a Christmas
tree.
So it kind of came down like
this, like down in the back up,
like swinging back up.
And then it went down on top of
Bell Mountain.
It landed.
So they're just like, whoa, what
did we see, you know?
And the next day they decide
they're going to go over there,
can camp up behind the Toys-R-Us
because that's about where they
they can see where it landed.
So they set up their tent or
their tents, and they go to bed.
He remembers waking up, hearing
someone outside the tent.
So he's like, security's up here
to throw us out because, I mean,
you're not far from the mall,
you're not far.
There's houses up there.
There's a little development,
like just really not the spot to
go camping.
So he's like, all right, I'll
just, we'll pack down leave and
he unzips the tent and he just
like looks out and right print
and just like a big hairy leg.
And he's like, what?
And he looks up and it's not
that big of a leg, but it's it's
like a hairy leg.
And he looks up and it's just
like this like tiny little
Chewbacca looking thing looking
at him.
And then it it looks up, and
then he looks over and there's a
big one standing next to it and
he's like, Oh my God.
He's like, it's like a Bigfoot
and it's kid, like a tiny
Bigfoot.
And I I kind of remember him
saying I'd have to go because I
know we talked about this in
another episode and I think
think he said he got like this
feeling of love and like.
Peace from it.
And then they walked away and
they just grabbed your stuff and
went.
Yeah, that's the adrenaline of
just trying to make your gum.
You know, It'd be the same
thing.
Like if there was a bear
standing there.
You're all of a sudden your your
senses are heightened or or it's
just an effect of whatever they
were smoking or dropping or
camping.
You know, He said.
Go camping at night.
Something was still some sort of
a hangover from from the.
I mean, the guy was clearly on
something when I talked to him
and then he was just talking to
me and he's telling me the story
and he's talk starts talking
about something else.
And he just walked away like,
like that was like we had a
certain amount of time and then
he just, and he just kind of
talked himself and walked down
the street and I went into the
customer and like he got some
interesting neighbors.
Well, I mean, Bigfoot behind
Toys-R-Us is kind of, although
maybe they were going there to
get the baby Bigfoot.
Babies R Us.
There is a lot of a lot of
forest land and woodland up
there too that, so that does
connect to where I believe
there's some game land over
there.
Maybe.
Maybe it's a little north of
that.
The one thing though, I I would
say is that I always thought it
was weird how some people don't
necessarily remember their
dreams or they don't know they
dream.
And sometimes people have these
extremely vivid dreams, which I
do not all the time, but I do.
And sometimes people, it could
be super vivid.
And, you know, he might have
woke up thinking that this is
what I just saw, and there could
have been a really vivid dream,
especially if he's smoking out,
smoking something.
It could be.
It could also been someone who
lived up there with a Gilly suit
and a Chewbacca costume for the
kid.
And you're like, well, this is
one way to get people stop
camping up here.
Right.
Yeah, they're on your land.
You got to scare them off.
What are you going to do?
So that brings up another
interesting question, which I
thought about this week.
I I saw an interview with Neil
deGrasse Tyson and they asked
him about the, the Mexican alien
mummies.
He was like, well, you know, we
don't know what's out there.
You know, if someone's got an
alien, bring it to me.
You know, let's, let's see.
You know, it's good that people
are are open to this and all
that.
And he says, but why does it
look so human?
He says if alien life is going
to grow on another planet, why
does it have two arms and two
legs, two eyes, a mouth?
Why does it look so human?
And I was like that's that's a
good point.
You know, like we don't know
unless they were it was
intentionally bred to try to
kind of fit in or it was just
another species that you know
evolved on this planet.
Right.
But it it made me think of
something when you look at
Bigfoot casts, right.
And I put a a picture of when we
went up to the.
So we when we were up in
Portland years ago we went to
the cryptozoology museum which
if you're in Portland, ME and
that place is still open, I
highly suggest you go.
It's very cool.
It was like $3 or something per
person.
It was like nothing.
But they've got a bunch of
Bigfoot casts there and when you
look at a Bigfoot cast where you
see pictures of Bigfoot cast
you, you see the foot like this,
right?
It's very similar to like our
feet, toes, foot, but when you
look at a primates foot it
doesn't look like that like a
gorilla or a monkey.
And then when you look at like
these tribes in South America or
you know Africa that that don't
wear shoes, their feet are
splayed.
They look more like a hand, like
the the big toe starts to come
out.
They can grip with them if
that's what happens to our feet.
And actually, because our feet
are shaped the way they are
because we wear shoes, why would
Bigfoots footprint look like our
foot in shoes?
It's funny you say that because
over the years I have seen a few
plaster casts like that where
the big toe was actually not
close and it was more to the
side, yeah.
Yeah, Okay.
So something like that.
I would believe more than these
ones that just look like the
toes are together.
Yeah, what's kind of just shaped
like a foot, like what you would
expect our foot to look like.
That's not what Bigfoot's feet
are going to look like.
It doesn't wear shoes as far as
we know.
As far as we know, it would be
kind of funny if you saw a
Bigfoot and that's the only
thing he was wearing.
That'd be kind of creepy.
Get in the woods, you trip over
a size 32 Converse All Star.
You're like what the what this
come from?
Don't scuff those guys.
That guy's shoes, man.
Be in trouble.
I hate that they find laces for
those.
I've often thought that though
too about about just the
footprint.
Like why do we, we always seem
to want to bring it home and
make it close to us.
You know, some of the things I
thought were interesting is, you
know, bears will scratch on
trees, right?
So there's been talk, oh, you
know, so and so or they might
have found some hair or some
fur.
And I'm like that to me sounds
logical because that's what
animals do.
If an animal's got an itch,
they're going to scratch it.
But we always try to humanize
something that we don't even
know is necessarily human.
Unless, of course, it is very
close offshoot, you know?
Yeah, but its feet still
wouldn't look like it was
wearing shoes.
No, I don't.
That's just that that makes
sense.
Like I've seen on on the
Internet picture or video of
like trail Cam footage.
And and one I saw was the camera
was looking like out in the
woods and then I don't know if
it was like a Hunter's blind
that had set up.
And then there's like 2 trees
and behind the one tree you can
see there's clearly something
there.
It's this black hairy mass
that's kind of making this weird
movement behind a tree.
And the first thing I thought
was that's a black bear scratch
in its back, you know, and
because its head's going to be
down a little bit and it's like,
give me a surprise.
Yeah, like there was the, the
bears in China, the they called
the Sunny Bears and they've got
like this really long neck.
And they, they got really
articulate paws and they're
trained to get food.
Like they want to get food.
So they they wave people and
people like, oh, that's just a
guy in a bear suit.
Look at how it's standing.
But that's exactly what you'd
see in the Bigfoot too.
Is it standing up?
And they're big and they're tall
and the head's big.
And if you're not getting, I'm
not saying that all Bigfoot
sightings are bears, but when
you're seeing something like
that, you're not getting a
really good look at it from
behind.
Just because it's tall and it's
hairy and it looks like it has
arms and it looks like it's
walking on its on its legs,
doesn't necessarily mean it's
not a bear.
The one thing I always found
interesting since since we've
been hiking and I don't know
why, I hear this cuz now I'm
just thinking about it, but
you'll be out in the woods and
you'll come across a whole a
tree that has a whole bunch of
sticks like propped up against
it, it's called.
And well, that's that's yes, but
you'll hear, you'll see people
like, oh, the Bigfoots are doing
that, aren't they?
And it's like, you know, are you
being serious?
Like, you know, because I don't,
I don't think, I think animals
are smarter than if, assuming
it's just an animal, if there,
if there is such a Bigfoot
creature.
But you would like, you would
think they'd be doing that right
next to the trail so the humans
can see it.
They're going to be off.
They're going to be hiding.
They're going to be comfortable,
you know?
Yeah, I mean, we, we wouldn't
know what their thought process
would be.
That could be a warning to keep
people out or they just simply
don't care that we're there.
Or it's just somebody putting
sticks in the ground and
building a little Hut to say the
Bigfoots out there, which I
think is.
Probably, which we've seen
people building weird things in
the in the in the woods.
Yeah.
Now there is some footage of
Bigfoot.
Well, maybe not Bigfoot, they
don't really know what it is,
but that's from like the 70s.
That guy out in in Cal was in
the Sierras.
They had that.
It was like the old Fort they
they found.
It was like all the big trees
and they got the the audio of
like.
Yeah, that's that's really
interesting because it does
sound it.
It sounds primate.
It doesn't sound like it sounds.
I hate to say it, but it sounds
real like it.
You know what I mean?
Like it just doesn't.
It doesn't sound like somebody
trying to fake something.
Yeah.
Now I've I've heard extended
versions of that where you can
hear the the howls and the the
kind of barks and shouts that
you generally associate with
Bigfoot.
But when you really listen to it
in the background, underneath
when the when the howls aren't
happening, you can hear language
and it's nothing I've ever
heard.
So you can hear like like
overall, like they're talking to
each other and they've they've
now they say they've analyzed
the audio and they can tell by
the frequencies that it had to
come from an animal that was so
big.
And it's beyond the registry of
the human ability to vocate,
right.
So could it be something else?
Possibly.
But I mean, there's nothing to
say that there's not another or
maybe at so maybe not anymore.
I don't know if they if they
could survive with the way that
we destroy stuff, but there
could have been another primate
species in North America.
Because there is a lot, when you
think about it.
In America we have a lot of open
space and it'd be very easily
easy for something to hide.
I've watched bears disappear
right in front of me, like step
across the trail and take two
steps into the woods and you go
look for them and they're just
gone.
If a black American do that that
easily.
There are a lot of Native
American tribes that have
stories about other not not
let's say Bigfoot but other
tribes that's what they perceive
the mass.
So it makes me wonder, yeah it
just they they right and and and
I never, I mean I've always
known about.
You know what happened when
America was young and and there
were people coming over, but
there was a a a series on PBS
that I saw about the national
parks and I can't remember what
it was, but it was a famous one.
If you had Google it, I'm sure
you'll come across and they had
a number of episodes and the
devastation that we did to the
wildlife and the trees.
It it like, it was unbelievable
what we did, like mass
devastation to a point I never
even thought of before.
Like you always think of
foresting where you're clear
cutting everything.
It's kind of the same thing with
animals.
That's why, like, I think the
everglames were formed, because
they were trying to protect the
birds, because there was a the
whole hat craze with the
feathers was a thing going on
and it was and the buffaloes.
Like there's a it's just it's.
You'd have to really just give
it a glance to see.
But I guess my my point is, and
they would just shoot Buffalo
from the train with no way to go
again, they just shoot them
because they were there.
And and if if you think about
the way things were even a
couple, 100 years ago, how there
were very few humans, well.
The Native Americans.
But they were the the population
was so less dense back then.
Who knows?
And I don't, I don't want to say
Bigfoot, but who knows what
other creatures like?
Who knows what else was out
there?
Like there could have been
different.
Like we have fox, we have
coyotes, we have wolves.
What if, what if there was
something else out there we we
really would not know if we
somehow just, you know, ended a
species.
And it doesn't have to be
anything.
Fancy.
It doesn't have to be anything
spectacular.
It could just be you know
something that looks like a
chipmunk, a flying squirrel.
You wouldn't know.
And that's the thing, like
there, there are and I'll.
I'll share this story.
So I don't know how many years
ago this was.
Now we were out hiking and it
was it's it's labeled as State
Park, but it's not really State
Park.
And there were it's it's in a
fairly it's not urban it, but
it's not it's populated.
There are farms around.
There are people there.
The trails were created by
people who like to bike.
So a lot of the trails were old.
You know they they were trying
to blaze some trails that were
eventually unused.
You went in One Direction.
I went in another direction
because we were just bored.
We were just.
In the woods tooling around just
having fun and I'm following
this trail and it was a worn
trail, dirt or mud however you
want to see it and again a bike
trail so smaller like if you
want a picture like an animal
trail but heavily like it was
worn and I'm walking around and
I'm just having a good time and
I'm walking along which this
this trail would.
Basically bend and kind of make
a U-turn and I stopped paying
attention to the trail because
there were some some Bluffs if
you will giant rock walls.
And it was really cool because
when I saw them I thought to
myself oh I hope the trail goes
up there and and as we or as I
was was walking all of a sudden
and and this is this is hard to
explain but all of a sudden.
I got like the chills my the
hair stood up and it was time
slowed down basically.
And the literally the hair stood
up and I got the chills and then
I heard an animal noise and it
was weird because I didn't the
the the sound came after my my
body's reaction.
I don't take that for for what
you will.
I never saw the animal right.
I I'm going to say it was after
like you know tooling around on
the Internet.
I'm thinking it was a bobcat.
And I I want to say that I was
walking down this trail.
I came around this bend and I
probably spooked it maybe had a
maybe there was a den maybe I
had little ones maybe I had to
kill.
I don't know.
But I never saw the thing it.
I was on top of it to the point
where it made a noise that.
That terrified my body and and
and I I, you know, I was smart
about it.
And I'm saying, hey, you know,
hey, buddy, I'm sorry I'm going
to leave you alone.
And I slowly backed away.
And I was looking for it and I
never actually saw whatever it
was.
And I was looking like it was,
it was light, like there was
sunlight.
And I didn't see it.
And I slowly backed away to a
point where I didn't hear
anything.
And then I kind of hurriedly
walked towards you.
And of course they told you and
you want to go see it.
But I just all I remember from
this is going because we were we
were on a trail that was
supposed to go one way.
But we obviously had gotten off
onto these bike trails and I got
to the end of like my trail
ended in private property.
So I start heading back and all
I remember hearing is you like
over the the like there's like a
little Knoll in the woods.
And as here.
Is it following me?
Is it following me?
We went running past me.
Is it not just standing like is
what behind you?
Like what's going on?
I.
Didn't know what it was.
It was you were on the trail
here.
You just ran straight through
the woods.
I was.
I was.
Why wasn't running?
You were moving.
Pretty quick.
Well, after I got away from it,
I figured whatever this thing
was was mean.
Yeah, well that's when we
started pulling up sounds and
we're like that.
That might have been a bobcat.
He had a bobcat counter almost
in the exact same spot where he
was.
He was crouched down and you
heard something behind the the
downed tree or whatever it was
that he was crouched behind.
And as he was, he thought he was
like hunting pheasants or
something like that.
So he's getting his his gun
ready and a bobcat jumped over
and land on his shoulders and
he's like as he's hunched over
and he just kind of looked
around the side of his head and
he looked at the bobcat.
Bobcat looked at him like holy
crap and just took off running.
But yeah, they're definitely up
there.
Well, and then there was also a
news report where people were
scared off the trail by a
creature and that's that's how
to be.
But the purpose, the well, that
could have been too.
I don't know how on those
trails, everything, you just go
downhill, you go back to the
main trails.
Everything's, everything is low.
The main trails are all low
there.
But like the the point is that
this thing, it wasn't you know
from if you want to think about
distance, it wasn't far away
from me it I was on top of it
where however close like if you
want to say 10 feet, I don't
think it was even 20 feet away.
It was loud and I never saw it.
Never saw it.
When I was in Wisconsin, I got
growled up by that wolf.
Like, I heard it, but because we
don't have them around here, it
didn't wreck.
It didn't register my brain as
to what it could be.
And I'm like, is that machinery
I'm hearing out in the
background?
Like, what is that?
And as I kind of stood there
trying to figure out what it was
and I started to hear that
really low register of it, same
thing, like the hair in the back
of my neck stood up.
I was like, Oh my, oh holy crap,
I I was hearing wolves that
morning, like, howling.
And I saw what could have some
kind of large canine track in
the mud not far from where I'd
camp that night.
And I'm like, holy crap, because
I could hear something crying
underneath the growl.
And I'm like, is that a pup?
Is that food?
Like, I don't want to be
involved.
I don't want to get in between
either one of those in this
wolf.
That's where I was.
It's like, yeah, and I'm just
going to leave.
Yeah, and I had.
Although a wolf though is wolves
get big, so I would have taken
that.
An encounter with a bobcat,
probably over a wolf.
But if anybody is, you know,
thinking I'm, you know, a little
timid, go out there and just,
you know, do your YouTube search
for some some bobcat growls.
See if you can find a decent
one.
If you see it first and you're
like, look a bobcat, and it
growls that you're like, that's
a bobcat.
But when you're just standing in
the woods and you hear something
go and you're like, what is
that?
It's a different.
It was different I I, I must
your balls about the about
running through the woods.
But yeah, I mean you didn't
know.
There's no way to know what that
was.
Well, my and and I know the
sound of a bear.
I know the sound of deer.
I know fox.
I know coyote.
This was nothing that I heard of
before, yeah.
And and like I was like okay,
there's only so many things it
could be.
And one would be bobcat, the
other would be a Mountain Lion.
But it doesn't really sound like
a Mountain Lion compared to some
of the vocals that I heard.
They yeah, mountain lions are
weird.
They don't have that real deep
growl that you'd expect.
Like a bobcat's got a really
deep growl for its size.
The bobcat, the mountain lions
more of a of like a hissing like
like like that kind of sound.
Not a growl.
Yeah, this was like mobile
Mountain Lion impression.
But yeah, but again we did see
the the tracks of them too.
When we were up in was it 299?
Yeah it was very up in the
corner of the state and state
game lands 299.
We saw, we saw big cat prints
like those are big Bobcats.
And then I I'm looking at the
snow and I'm like look up, just
look up.
Just look up.
And you're like, why I'm like,
look up, look in the trees for
something big?
Because I saw the tail drag
going up the hill.
And I was like, Bobcats don't
have tails.
And we were so interesting, that
odor on our way up.
And all summer, like, have we
been getting tracked by mountain
lions this whole time?
Like, have they been around?
Were they marking right in front
of us like anything?
I think that's possible.
And that's the that's the moral
of the story.
When it comes to, you know, wild
animals, you're.
Unless you stumble upon them, or
you're a hunter or a tracker,
you don't know where they like
they could.
There's a lot of animals that
could be out there.
You might not find them.
Any animals?
Yeah.
Oh, I've I've been seen by a lot
more bears and coyotes and
Bobcats and I have seen, you
know, they they know you're
there.
You don't know they're there.
Right.
So you know some what what are
the decrypted instances are
they?
Is it just a bear?
Is it you know something else
when you hear A lot of these I
was looking at were like, I
heard a hoop and a howl, and it
must be a Bigfoot, you know.
You know what an owl sounds like
a barred owl.
We hear them all the time.
They make a crazy call every
once in a while that sounds it's
like a yeah.
And you'll hear every once in a
while and it's loud and all you
look, what the hell was that?
And then you'll hear the owls
like, but you don't always hear
that hoot after that, that loud
scream.
And if they're not far from you
and they do that, that'll freak
you right out.
Especially if it's dark and you
wake up to that and you don't
make in your chatter or their
hoots.
Yeah, we had that, that.
I don't know what a gathering of
owls are.
Court court of owls.
I don't know what you call them,
Congress or court Congress.
And it was it was about two in
the morning I think and they
flew in over our heads when we
were camping in the in the
forest.
We were we were nowhere close to
I guess we were kind of close,
but it was out.
We was out there and they flew
in and they started to chatter
and if you heard them they you
would you would have thought
they were like Bigfoot.
They were chattering and we know
they were barred owls. 100% but
they were chattering and making
noise.
What's it called?
Okay that may be like a Mandela
Effect.
It's called the Parliament.
I've never heard of that, but
I've never heard, I've always
heard and call either a court or
a Congress of else.
Yeah, I always thought it was
court, apparently a group.
Of Elves is on Parliament.
All right.
That's new.
Yeah, check back next year and
see if that changed.
Yeah, we should.
I don't know if you have that
clip.
I used to have that clip of them
chattering and it's it sounds.
I can find it.
I can find it, put it in, yeah.
It's it's if you if you heard if
someone, if you didn't know what
they sounded like and someone
shared it, you would be like,
what kind of a creature is that?
It's like, that's just a bunch
of owls chattering away, yeah.
Oh,
but yeah, it's it's especially
when they start chattering.
Yeah.
The best way to describe the the
the owls chatter, the the barred
owls is think back to like the
80s or yeah, the 80s.
Nineties.
And there was those.
They're like a hammer, like a
like a wobbly hammer.
And you kind of like this.
And they go, wow, wow, that's
exactly.
What they say that way.
Yeah.
And they make that weird.
Yeah.
They they chatter and they talk
and then they start rolling
their owl their r's and they
it's crazy.
I love hearing them though.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's
awesome.
So what have you?
What are you working on for your
upcoming?
Research so just you don't have
to get the whole thing away.
So, so I stumbled upon this a
couple years back and I don't
remember how.
I honestly, I don't.
I don't remember how, but it's a
it's a book, a little bit older
book now, and it's about a
Pueblo tribe called the Zunis
and how they're different from
other pueblos and and.
How they may have been, how they
may have merged with another
group of people at one point,
And I think it was about the
1300s.
So it's, it's interesting, it's
a mystery.
So is there any conclusion?
No.
But it's interesting when you
hear that away yet.
All right.
It's really.
You'll be devastated when you
hear the findings of the end of
it already.
No, it's a mystery.
It's a mystery.
But it's it's really, it's just
it's just interesting.
It's it has nothing to do with
it.
It really is just the story of a
people and how they're different
from other Native Americans and
how some of their you know,
their language is different from
most other people on the plan.
Very cool.
The I was working on something
similar, but there's not enough
information to really do a full
segment on it but about the
Roanoke Colony.
Oh, cool.
But it's kind of solved.
So if you're not familiar with
the Roanoke Colony, it was the
first attempt to settle in the
Americas by the English, and
they came to an island just out
just off the coast of what is
now North Carolina, called
Roanoke.
They attempted to settle there,
ran out supplies, they went,
someone went back to England,
came back with more supplies,
they went back to England again.
And when they went back there
was a war of what the war was,
but between England and France,
I believe, and it was like a
naval battle and they couldn't
get back.
It took three years for them to
get back.
So when they come back, they get
to the island and it's
abandoned.
The colony is like just no one
there.
And all they find is carved into
a tree.
It says Croatowen.
And the story goes, they were
just like, oh, I guess
everybody's dead now and they
just left right big mystery.
They don't know what happened.
These people, when they actually
look at the history and they
look at what happened there and
they look at the neighboring
island, which was it's now
Hatteras, it's called Hatteras.
But the people that lived there
were the Croatowen, they were
very friendly and they were
helping the settlers even before
they left and went back to
England.
They were like, we will help you
however we can.
There's evidence, substantial
evidence that says that they
went back to that island, like
they ran out supplies, like they
were in trouble.
These, you know, the Crowtone
probably came over and they're
like, hey, we can, we can help
out if you want to come over
here.
We got stuff and they probably
went over some people probably
left and went off on their own
and tried to make their own way.
Some people went to Protone and
they that's why they wrote it on
the thing.
And it seems really strange that
the guy who left and came back
would have forgotten in three
years about the Protone.
So what I think happened is that
like some people left and trying
to make their own way.
There's probably a divide trying
to figure out how to survive and
he probably went over to the
that island like hey look we're
back.
We can take you home and you're
probably like, no, we'd like it
here.
So they just kind of the
narrative is oh, we can never
find them and he is he just let
them stay because they're happy
there.
But there's like English like
pottery and metals and coins on
this island that shouldn't be
there showing that there that
some of the the people went over
there.
So, I mean, it's an interesting
story, but once I read that and
I was like, oh, there's a clear
ending to this.
Like they know what happened to,
you know, at least some of them.
Yeah, and there's a lot of.
I would, I would agree that
makes more sense.
So either they all just died,
you know, or they just mingled
and and and found a tribe that
they, you know, got along with
and then they just kind of lived
out their life.
Like they came over here to do.
Yeah, yeah, because that's the
thing.
They they left for a reason.
So when this tribe was like,
hey, we'll, we'll take you in,
they're probably like, oh, this
is awesome.
You know, we don't.
We can learn from them.
We can.
We're happy here.
We don't have to deal with all
the crap back in England.
We're not starving.
We don't want to go back, right.
We're just going to stay, you
know, So it would make sense.
And that the guy was like, well,
if I tell them you're going to
stay, they're going to come and
get you.
So I'm just going to tell them
you were all murdered by savages
and he probably left.
It's been like, honestly.
What What do you think they like
if if you're the captain of a
ship or you're running this
place, right, Let's just put you
put yourself in in their
position.
And then if if you went back to
England and said, Oh yeah, I
found them, but they they're out
doing their own thing, like like
what do you think's going to
happen?
They're like, well, you got to
go back and get them, like you
can't just let them, like, you
know, it's probably just so much
easier.
This would be like okay.
I never saw anything.
Yeah.
And I'll just look the other way
and just keep going on with your
business.
Yep.
And if he was smart, he went to
that island alone without the
other people in his party that
came over.
Like, look, I know these people.
If you go, they're going to,
you're not going to be happy.
And he got there and he's like,
I'll look, I know it's going to
happen if I tell them that
they're here and what's going to
happen to them, I know what's
going to happen to you.
So as far as I know, you're
crazy.
You eat them and we'll just
leave it.
That and you guys go live your
life because everything that
they found about this tribe is
they were peaceful and they were
there, a peaceful tribe living
on an island just trying to live
their lives.
Live their lives.
Yeah.
So yeah, I was gonna, I was
looking into that this week.
And I was like, Oh yeah, that's
not, that's not much to build a
whole story on.
Well, it's it's a story.
It's just a smaller story.
But now it's told, yeah, but
what I've got now, without
getting too much into it, I, I
was got an e-mail from an author
of a book about some very
interesting things.
And I'm going to, I'm reading
the book and I'll see if I can
set up an interview and we'll go
through that.
So that that might take a few
days to get together or or a
couple weeks.
They may not be anytime soon.
I don't know.
Like the book's not that long so
I'll have that read.
But.
But setting everything up can be
a can be a hassle sometimes.
Yeah, you got to schedule some
some meetings and stuff, yeah.
And we'll see if I can get,
depending on the time.
I mean, I can do more than two
people on this, so if you want
to get involved in the
interview.
Yeah, yeah, I'll read it too.
Yeah, yeah.
So, yeah.
But I mean, I've got nothing
else and we've been going for
over an hour.
So that's that's pretty good.
Yeah, it was pretty good for Off
the cuff episode.
Yeah.
Stretched out like a story about
a couple of monkeys and a guy in
a Gilly suit.
Pretty good.
I think the ghost restaurant was
the best part.
I think so too.
Well, and that's the funny part
is that it's a personal story
and you forget about it.
Like, every so often you're
like, Oh yeah, that did happen.
Oh, yeah, I remember that time.
Yeah, that time we ate the ghost
restaurant and I got kicked by
maybe, maybe, maybe this is what
happened.
Maybe we're in a ghost
restaurant and then get kicked
by ghosts.
But that tree, something fell
off the tree and hit you and it
just looked like the door moved,
but it was actually reality kind
of coming into that.
Well, that's or or we traveled
back in time.
Nah, no, I like the time slip
idea.
I like the time slip idea
because then it's it's it's less
because if we were just like a
couple of idiots sitting in an
abandoned restaurant for an hour
or two, you think somebody would
drove by and been like, what?
What are you guys doing?
What are you doing?
Well, and that's where like the
the, the somewhat skeptic in me
says okay, something kicked my
chair that happened, that
physically happened, but maybe
we just went to the wrong
restaurant, maybe we got turned
around, you know, you know,
because otherwise.
Otherwise, it's something weird.
Something weird happened one way
or the other.
Something weird happened in that
place.
It's just interesting.
Cool story though.
Yeah, it's good story.
It's all about the story.
It's all about the story.
And that's we were talking about
this before, about my, my, the
struggles I'm having finding
people to interview on the show
because it seems like every
podcast, every guest they can
find is trying to sell people
like a selfhelp book or a
program or something like that.
And I'm like, that's not what
this is.
This is about entertainment.
This is about fun stories.
Doesn't have to be about
anything in particular.
Just have some stories be asked
for a while and not, you know,
the listeners don't you don't
have to think too much.
You can just listen and enjoy.
Yeah, that's that's that's what
I like.
You want to be entertained?
You know, I understand people
have to hustle a little bit and
they, you know, they want to
sell what they want to sell.
But the challenge is just
finding people that like, you
know, the pothead who saw an
Warp turn into a Bigfoot.
That's the challenge, yeah.
Came down to the Zigzag like a
Christmas tree.
Turned into a Bigfoot with a
baby looking to buy some shoes
at Toys-R-Us?
Yeah.
That maybe that's not their
height they're hiding their
their big footprints is by
Toys-R-Us shoes.
Can they do they sell shoes at
Toys-R-Us?
I don't think they sell anything
at Toys-R-Us anymore.
They're good, but so that's
going to do it for this one.
Hope you guys enjoyed it.

And yeah, check out the website
because I've got.
I put some work into the website
now because I I hate WordPress.
So I'm building to work the
website like by hand and I'm I'm
trying to add some different
stuff to it.
So WordPress is just a disaster
anymore.
So I don't, I don't use it, it's
it's handy.
But since I don't host the feed
or the files on the website
anymore, I don't have to worry
about any of that stuff.
So it's a pain, but that's going
to do it for me.
I've been curt.
I'm Rocco.
